Pacific Dogwood
Arthur Lee Jacobson drew this nice picture of the native dogwood tree, Cornus nuttallii, while he was signing my copy of his book "The Trees of Seattle," at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show.  Click on the image to go to his website and order his book.  Tell him I sent you.

About our Logo:

"Hey Cliff, old buddy, I need an image for my gardening business!"

Cliff Morgan and I became close friends in Mrs. Bristow's 5th and 6th grade classes, but, as is so often the case, choosing different universities sent us on different paths in life.

Years later, when I was starting a gardening business in the Seattle area, and he was already a well established New York City Graphic Arts Designer, I was thrilled when he offered to create a logo for my firm.

I had already chosen the business name A Natural Gardener since it communicates a personal relationship between gardener and client and a use of natural materials and processes. And it expresses land stewardship as more of an identity than an occupation. He built on the company name and created several images for me to choose from. I decided on the image of the "green thumb print" because it represents the idea of placing my personal imprint and seal upon my creative influence: my clients' gardens, landscapes, and natural areas.
